When my son was born, I discovered a new level of creativity within me that I had not previously known existed. I have always been artistic, so it wasn’t a stretch for me to express my creativity while designing my son’s bedrooms, making toys, and planning birthday parties – which I absolutely love to do!
However, because I spent hours and hours in my sewing room, I began to use that time to pray. I would often ask God questions like, “What do you want to create next?” Or I would say, “Jesus, do you prefer light or dark blue embroidery floss for this design?” And off we would go! We would create together.
I would ask God, “What do you want to create next?”
I would spend hundreds of hours in my craft room “alone,” yet I was never alone. God was there nudging me to keep going. Jesus was there to help me to solve problems. Holy Spirit was there to give me creative inspiration. I learned early on that it was much more fun to create with God than to do it alone. In fact, whenever I didn’t invite Him into the creative process, the projects never really turned out that well.
This is what we’ll do together. As you sew along with me, please know that God will be with us too. As you set your hands to create our next project, I pray that you will tangibly feel the presence of God guiding you and encouraging you along the way.
The purpose of my blog is also to share with you the insight and wisdom that God has given me in regards to raising my son, being a wife and friend to others, and supporting the body of Christ. The influence of God’s voice should be seen in all aspects of our lives as mothers, daughters, wives, and friends. When God’s voice is not stifled and His will is allowed to manifest in our lives, we will be successful in all that we do.
You will also find many posts sprinkled throughout this website all about designing homes. I used to struggle in this area—always trying to find the perfect home or make it look just so, but falling short of my goals. I used to get so uptight about it all. I went to God about it for help and asked him how could my passion for design turn so sour? He showed me that homes are to provide shelter, but they’re also meant to be a place of worship. Oh man…I had realized that I missed the mark. But since then, I have ran with this new revelation. Now, I design each room with this in mind, “create spaces that inspire worship to our creator.”
Please also know that scripture will be used throughout all of my posts as a benchmark so that we both know that my words align with the Father’s heart.
I am also excited to share with you the revelation received during hard times & also my account of so many God’s miracles. I pray that my posts and all that I set my hands to do will inspire you to draw even closer to God—our creator.
So now wrap your heart tightly around the hope that lives within us, knowing that God always keeps his promises! – Hebrews 10:23
Chaser is a nickname we use for our son Chase. Although he’s soooo cute and I have a million photos of him, you’ll find that I rarely choose to publish a photo of him on this site. This is mainly for privacy purpose. But my gosh…God sure did bless us with a handsome little boy!
Dear Chase, The day you were born, I discovered a new side of creativity that I didn’t know existed in me! I have especially enjoyed designing your bedrooms, toys, and birthday parties. You are such a God-kiss. Every day I thank God for YOU! My son, you are more precious than silver, more costly than gold, more beautiful than diamonds. We love you!
Love, Mommy
I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” And he worshiped the Lord there. – 1 Samuel 1:27-28
In my shop, you will find faith-based gifts for your loved ones. I love making things for children and creating places to play and rest that inspire relationship with God. I make stuffed animals, dolls, paint murals, sew anything you can imagine for your home, and I also enjoy designing fashion accessories—particularly jewelry and purses.
I believe that we can teach our children how to be a bright light in a world of darkness from a very early age. In childhood education, it’s been proven that children learn best through play. I take this same approach when I’m teaching Chase or other kiddos how to hear God’s voice for themselves. I always start out by saying, “God what do you want to say?” whenever I begin to make something new—whether it’s a mural, a pillow with a special message, a look-alike doll, sew-alongs and books!
I’ve self-published two children’s books, have one that’s pending illustrations and currently working on my fourth which has turned into a chapter book. I’m in love with these stories!!
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds
– Hebrews 10:24
My most recent accomplishment is writing the two new children’s books in our new “Dear Little Obie” book series. The first book was published in September 2020—one year after launching this site. 😉 After I wrote the book, I realized that my Word document was exactly 4 pages and broken out into 14 sections. While writing the book itself came very easy to do (which showed me the power of Holy Spirit), actually creating the book was way more effort than I thought it would be. I couldn’t believe the amount of effort that had gone into such a “little” project! The amount of effort reminded me of the birth of my son. I had gained 65 pounds, yet he only weighed 4lbs 14oz when he was born. I also went through 4 printed drafts to get it just right—but with one final prayer and a push, the book was complete.
My second Obie book is “All Tangled Up” and it was just released for Christmas 2020. My friend Angela, illustrator for this series, sent me a text in October saying, “You’re probably going to think I’m crazy, but how about if we create a Christmas book?” And together we did just that!
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. – Psalms 139:14 (NIV)
A big thank you to Angela Formby for capturing Obie’s facial expressions and good nature through these beautiful illustrations!
My favorite project so far is a book about Chaser Bunny. I first created Chaser Bunny as a stuffed animal for my son, but soon realized that there was much more to this sweet bunny that I originally thought. This particular book has turned into a chapter book (which has blown my mind) and I’ve completed chapter one. It is such a precious story that I’ve been writing with God and I have much excitement to get it completed!
Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life. I’m back home in the house of God for the rest of my life. – Psalm 23:6 (The Message)
In 2015, a Facebook prayer group dedicated to mothers and daughters was created out of an urgent call for prayer for a dear friend. We now have 470+ active members that span the US. This is a women’s only private Facebook group site. We have a small dedicated team that helps to run our group. We also offer prayer perimeters around those needing extra provide support to release God’s power over one’s circumstances. These are powerful God encounters that span 3 days where prophetic words and visions are documented and presented to the recipient. In 2019 we hosted 12 group in-person sessions in Cincinnati, OH and Austin, TX. In September, 2020 we launched monthly Mom Zoom calls. Click here to join this private group.
This is not the time to pull away and neglect meeting together, as some have formed the habit of doing, because we need each other! In fact, we should come together even more frequently, eager to encourage and urge each other onward as we anticipate that day dawning.
– Hebrews 10:25
In 2011, less than a year after my son was born, I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. I had the thyroid removed along with 70 lymph nodes from my neck. I have a scar that runs the length of just under my right ear and across my neck. Most people cannot see it, however I still can feel the tightness of the scar tissue from inside. I have a few scars as well from the drainage tubes. This was another amazing story of God’s grace and mercy over my life. I am still dealing with some side effects from the thyroid medication included unwanted weight gain, but I am alive, happy and whole!!
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
