Today’s scripture – June 14 – Matthew 6:14
“And when you pray, make sure you forgive the faults of others so that your Father in heaven will also forgive you.

Yesterday I received the universal sign for “You’re Numer One!” (aka The Bird). I had pulled out of the grocery store parking lot thinking I had plenty of room between oncoming traffic, but soon realized the guy coming from my left was speeding about 15 miles per hour over the speed limit. I think he had his finger on speed dial and was already prepared to hang it out the window in anticipation of the next offense.

But it was actually a divine setup for us both. After I silently and sarcastically mumbled, “And there it is…the finger…that’s awesome.” I remembered that it was my assignment to bless and pray for him. I prayed for him a few times yesterday and today I’ll pray for him some more – however God leads.

However much it hurts, make it a habit to bless and pray for those who have hurt you. While this was road incident such a minor event, I remembered yesterday that something like this would have literally brought me to tears in my early 20’s. While I’ve made leaps and bounds of progress in this particular category of offense, I’m still working it out with God on how to forgive those that fall into the “forgive 70 x 7” a day types of relationships. I suspect I’m not the only one who’s in this same situation. Yet, I shall continue to forgive, bless and love – and not by my own strength, but by God’s might hand. I can’t do it on my own…I need Him every step of the way.
