Keeping My Promise to Chaser

This evening we had a few rounds of tornado sirens go off. All was well and no tornados were actually reported. However, as I’m reading a bed time story to Chase, he begins to reveal that he’s scared. It’s a good chance to talk again about how amazing it is that we can call on God for protection at any time and anywhere and that He answers are call.

Chaser said talking it though helped a little, but proceeded to ask me if I could sleep in his room all night long. Of course I say yes and I even offered to drag in a twin mattress from the guest room and put on his bedroom floor for me to sleep on. He loves the idea and he’s now ready to fall asleep. (I’ve done this before, but only when he’s really sick.)

But after he was asleep and I too was ready to crawl into bed, I was too quick to back out of my promise I made to my son. Of course he’s fine and he really doesn’t need me to sleep in his room, but I can hear God say, “Your actions reflect Me. I always keep my word (promise).” So needless to say, I’m writing this as I lay in his room and on top of the mattress that I dragged in.

I’m so thankful that God keeps His promises. We can always count on Him to do what He said He will do.

“So now we must cling tightly to the hope that lives within us, knowing that God always keeps his promises!” – Hebrews 10:23

Emojis represent nightime buddies: “Coco’s” several penguins and “Kiki” the frog (his main squeeze…besides me).
Update: This morning Chase said, “I woke in the middle of the night and figured you wouldn’t be in my room. But I looked on the floor and saw you! Then I went back to sleep.” So glad I didn’t let my baby down!!
